Dress Code

The Princess Anne Dress Code encourages students and staff to express their individuality and personal choice through their manner of dress. We emphasize respect for others, safety and comfort meaning that students, staff and guests are expected to dress in a respectful manner which is appropriate and safe for all school activities.

Clothing choices will ensure that:

  • Bare back or midriff are not visible
  • Undergarments are covered
  • Chest and upper thigh are appropriately covered; suggestions of length of skirt, shorts and dresses are mid-thigh length
  • Footwear is safe for all types of school activities and is worn at all times, for example running shoes are required for physical education classes
  • Headwear of any type should be removed in the school, except when required for medical or religious reasons
  • Sun protection (hat, sunscreen, sunglasses) is recommended outdoors
  • Clothing is free of profane, discriminatory, violent, drug/alcohol related saying or images

In the event of a Dress Code violation, the teacher will have a respectful conversation with the student to address the concern. If necessary, next steps include consultation with administration and/or making a reasonable effort to contact the parents.

Teachers and parents are encouraged to review the contents of the Dress Code with students; it is available for reference in the student planners and on the school’s website. The Dress Code will be reviewed once a year.
